The Information Theory Society Paper Award, consisting of a certificate and an honorarium, is presented annually for an outstanding publication in the field of information theory published anywhere during the preceding two-year period. Its purpose is to recognize exceptional publications in the field and to stimulate interest in, and encourage contributions to, the discipline.
Nominations of papers published in calendar years 1996 and 1997 are sought for the 1998 Award. Nomination letters should include a complete citation for the publication and a statement indicating why the paper deserves the award.
The winning paper will be chosen by the Board of Governors of the IT Society based on the recommendations of the IT Society Awards Committee.
